#50 Men who support women

Our guest for the Men who support women podcast episode number three is Christian Ringes.

Christian Ringnes is a Norwegian businessman and art collector. He is the owner and CEO of the investment company Eiendomsspar AS, which has interests in real estate, finance, and industry.

Ringnes is widely recognized for his unwavering commitment to the arts and cultural preservation and the Artdom project.

Ringnes also had a role in the development of the new Munch Museum at Bjørvika, which opened in 2020. He also donated more than $70 million for the creation of a large sculpture and cultural park, Ekebergparken, which opened in 2013.  The Wall Street Journal ranks it as one of the top five parks in the world.

He has donated millions of Norwegian kroner to support cultural preservation and has been honored with numerous awards Overall, his impact on the preservation and advancement of Norwegian culture is unparalleled.

We asked Ringes the following questions: 

  • In your opinion, what does equality mean and why is it important?
  • What motivated you to advocate for women's and gender equality?
  • You have been a vocal advocate for allowing women to become members of Norway's most exclusive men's club, Det Norske Selskab. How would you persuade the club's powerful members to invite women to join?
  • As we discussed in our previous conversation, privileges also come with responsibilities. Why do some individuals feel this sense of responsibility while others do not?
  • At what point did you decide that you wanted to give back to society, and how has it influenced your legacy?
  • What advice would you offer to those who wish to combat gender discrimination and contribute to the cause?
